Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) is a nationally recognized event that was founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (N.S.P.E) in 1951. IGED is a day dedicated to inspiring young girls to become the next generation of engineers.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Sacramento Section Younger Member Forum (YMF) began hosting an annual IGED celebration in February 2023. Sacramento’s YMF has partnered with California State University, Sacramento (CSU Sacramento) College of Engineering and Computer Science and local engineering professionals to make IGED an ongoing success.
